Luxembourg, 29 January 2024 –ZTE, TCL and SK Telecom are among the latest companies to become licensors in the Cellular IoT patent pool run by Sisvel International SA (Sisvel).

The two Chinese tech giants join compatriots Huawei, China Mobile, Datang and Shanghai Langbo in making their patents available through the pool, reinforcing its position as a one-stop licensing shop for the IoT market in China and beyond.

For its part, South Korean powerhouse SK Telecom joins as the ninth world-leading telecommunications operator to offer easy, transparent and efficient patent licensing for the IoT industry via the Sisvel programme.

The Sisvel Cellular IoT Patent Pool now provides foundational IP owned by more than 30 world class innovators and presents IoT manufacturers of NB-IoT and LTE-M devices with a clear, one-stop licensing solution.

“We are proud to welcome these key patent owners,” says Sisvel’s Cellular IoT programme manager, Sven Torringer. “China is one of the world’s most important IoT markets. What’s more, China and South Korea are also home to many of the key innovators of the technologies that enable the IoT market.”

Securing the participation of additional Asian innovators and further supporting a solution that benefits both technology adoption and innovation is an important statement to the region, Torringer notes. “We could not be more excited with the rapid growth of the programme,” he concludes.
