Lately, Director of National Copyright Administration (NCA) Liu Binjie met with the Chairman of 29th Olympic Games Coordination Commission under the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Mr. Hein Verbruggen in Beijing.

Mr. Hein Verbruggen, on behalf of IOC, spoke highly of the Olympic copyright protection by Chinese government. He said, China’s efforts in anti-piracy work laid the foundation for the success of the Beijing Olympic Games and set a good example for global anti-piracy work.

He believed that it is a very challenging and important task to combat against illegal broadcasting. NCA and relevant departments have attached great importance and achieved remarkable results from this aspect. The automatic monitoring system of IOC showed that more than 90 percent of illegal broadcasting took place at abroad and domestic violations have been cracked down rapidly and effectively.

Liu Binjie appreciated IOC’s support to Beijing Olympic Games and thanked for the positive comments on copyright protection. Liu Binjie said that copyright protection is essential for the successful Olympic Games. Olympic spirit is the common wealth of mankind, and we have the responsibility and obligation to do a good job in copyright protection. [Chinese version is available on Xinhua]
